FSU beats Maryland 37-3 in College Park, MD. Everette Brown had 3½ sacks and forced a fumble, part of an overwhelming performance by the Noles defense in a 37-3 rout of the 22nd-ranked Terrapins on Saturday night. FSU (8-3, 5-3) turned 2 turnovers into TD's in taking a 21-0 halftime lead. That was enough
to ensure Maryland (7-4, 4-3) its first home loss of the season and ruin the Terrapins' bid to win the league's Atlantic Division title. If Boston College beats Maryland next week, it will win the division and play in the championship game. After eliminating the Terrapins from contention, Florida State now must rely on them: If Maryland beats Boston College, the Seminoles will capture the division title.FSU safety Myron Rolle earned a
Rhodes Scholarship, then boarded a private plane and joined the team late in the 1st half. When he entered the game, the Noles had a secure 3 TD lead. Seeking to go 7-0 at home, Maryland wasted 2 chances to jump on top. By the time the Terrapins finally scored in the 3rd, on a 34-yard field goal, FSU was ahead 24-0. Any chance the Terrapins had of mounting a comeback ended when Da'Rel Scott lost his 2nd fumble with 13:19 left and the
Noles up 27-3. It was Maryland's 4th turnover - 1 more than in its previous 3 games and FSU turned that into a TD, too. Then, most of the fans in the crowd of 51,620 headed for the exits, happy to avoid watching the end of Maryland's most lopsided loss of the season. The unpredictable Terrapins are 4-0 against Top 25 teams, 3-4 against unranked teams and 0-4 at night. FSU QB Christian Ponder threw for a TD and ran for another. He went 19-for-24 for 143 yards and led the Noles with 81 yards rushing. The defense played the biggest part of the night in FSU's 1st win at Maryland since 2002.The Noles had 6 sacks, 2 int's and forced 2 fumbles in improving to 17-2 in this lopsided rivalry.

Bobby Bowden is now first all time with 381 career victories. Bowden became the winningist coach in college football history as he passed Joe Paterno 2 years ago. However, Paterno is still around and has closed the gap due to FSU's weak ass play on the field the past few years. Joe Pa has 382 wins also. Bobby Bowden needs to keep up the winning tradition he helped create at FSU. This season is looking good. Bobby Bowden is the king of college football! Plus he's 3 years younger than JoePa.

FSU Football dates back to the early 1900's. Most people think that FSU football started in 1947 when the University WENT BACK to being co-ed. Purists, like myself, NOLE the REAL truth! FSU (aka. Seminary West Of The Suwannee) first fielded a football team in 1900. By 1903, we had won our first State Title. That was prior to FSU becoming an all female school. Originally, FSU was an all male school (pre civil-war era). History lesson completed!
Charley Ward and Chris Weinke each won the Heisman Trophy in 1993 and 2000 respectively. Charley and Chris both helped the Noles to win National Championship's in those years.
